Hyderabad: Former minister T. Harish Rao demanded immediate cancellation of the proposed Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) auctions of 10.63 acres in Survey No. 83/1 at Raidurg Panmaktha village, scheduled for August 21 and 28 2026.Harish Rao in a letter to chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday questioned the state govt’s decision to auction the land despite serious issues relating to its heritage status, competing ownership claims and ongoing legal disputes.He said that Survey No. 83, Raidurg Panmaktha village, was declared a heritage site under G.O.Ms.No.4, Municipal Administration Department, dated January 2, 2003. He said the state govt has a statutory responsibility to protect such heritage property and cannot proceed with its alienation without first establishing its legal status.Harish Rao recalled that CM Revanth Reddy himself had approached the Telangana High Court in 2020 seeking protection against the creation of third-party interests in land falling within the same Survey No. 83. He questioned how the same person, after becoming CM , could now permit an auction that would create fresh third-party rights over disputed property.“When you were in the opposition, you went to court seeking protection against third-party interests. After becoming CM, how can you permit the creation of third-party interests over the very same disputed land? Is this one rule in Opposition and another in power?” Harish Rao asked.The BRS deputy leader stated that the proposed auction assumes greater significance because 6.2 acres from the same Survey No. 83 had earlier been auctioned for approximately ₹237 crore per acre, following which the State Bank of India asserted ownership rights and approached the court. The matter is presently pending before the Telangana High Court.Despite the ownership dispute concerning the earlier parcel remaining sub judice, the Government is now proceeding to auction another 10.63 acres, divided into two plots of approximately 5.25 acres and 5.38 acres. Harish Rao questioned the administrative prudence of creating further third-party interests in the same disputed survey number.Harish Rao questioned why the state govt was in such a hurry to auction land worth an estimated ₹2,000 crore when it had not conclusively established the ownership and legal status of the property.Harish Rao said the state govt’s decision in the context of other controversial land-related decisions, including the issues surrounding Kancha Gachibowli, Lagacharla and Maulana Azad National Urdu University, and alleged that the Congress govt was increasingly treating public land as a source of revenue rather than as an asset belonging to future generations.He stressed that heritage properties are not ordinary real estate assets that can be treated merely as commercial parcels. They carry historical and cultural value and must be protected for future generations.Harish Rao demanded a comprehensive examination of all heritage, revenue, survey, title and Waqf records relating to Survey No. 83, including an investigation into any records that may have been reported missing, misplaced or tampered with.ends/
