Patna: The Bihar govt is set to launch a statewide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from Aug 9 to 17 to mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’. Chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit has instructed all district magistrates to ensure maximum public participation and ensure that national flags are displayed at every household located along international borders. The initiative is being spearheaded by the department of art and culture.To ensure timely availability of flags, the state govt has rolled out special financial provisions across all 534 blocks in Bihar. Each block has been allocated Rs1 lakh to procure around 4,000 national flags locally, bringing the total availability to approximately 21.36 lakh flags across the state. Distribution will be routed through grassroots networks, including panchayats, Jeevika self-help groups, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), and local community bodies.The campaign is designed to mobilise public participation across all sections of society. Key events planned across districts include bike and cycle rallies, exhibitions, mass recitations of ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘rangoli’ competitions, cultural shows, and illumination of govt buildings in tricolour. A major highlight of the initiative will be a grand district-level Tiranga Yatra on Aug 12, along with the nationwide “selfie with Tiranga” digital drive.Highlighting the need for strict adherence to the flag code, the chief secretary directed block development officers (BDOs) to prepare detailed panchayat-wise distribution plans. Officials have been instructed to conduct daily progress reviews while seeking the support of local representatives, NGOs, youths’ groups such as NCC, NSS and ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’, as well as educational institutions and trade bodies.“Har Ghar Tiranga is not merely a govt programme, but a mission to transform civic participation into a genuine mass movement,” said the chief secretary, calling upon officials to ensure that the national flag flies with full honour across every home, office, school and public institution in the state.
