Nagpur: The city is set to celebrate Hanuman Janmotsav on Thursday with grand processions, mass religious recitations, and large-scale mahaprasad, with authorities implementing traffic diversions and security measures to manage expected crowds across the city.The highlight is a grand procession from Rajabaksha Hanuman temple, featuring over 80 tableaux moving through main routes with devotional music and themed displays. Organisers have set up welcome points along the way, with traditional performances enhancing the procession.Another procession from Gittikhadan will include laser shows and community receptions at key locations.At Tekdi Hanuman Temple in Gawlipura, a mahaprasad is expected to serve over 3.5 lakh devotees, organisers said. Ingredients sourced from various states will be used with over 1,000 volunteers and women’s groups from Amravati district involved in preparation and distribution. This 35-year-old community-driven initiative will also extend food distribution to hostels, institutions, and hospitals.Beyond Nagpur, the Hanuman Lok at Jam Sawli in Madhya Pradesh is becoming a major attraction. Since its inauguration by Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav recently, the site has seen increasing visitors. Ongoing Ram Katha recitations and bhajan programmes will culminate during Janmotsav, enhancing its appeal to devotees.Across Nagpur, temples are hosting continuous recitations of the Hanuman Chalisa and Sundarkand, with special aartis and bhajan sessions.
