Gurgaon: The draft voter list will be published on July 31. The publication of the draft electoral roll will mark the beginning of the claims and objections process. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on Oct 3.State election commission (SEC) has completed preparations for the next phase of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.The door-to-door verification and collection of enumeration forms by booth-level officers (BLOs) — which formed the first phase of the revision exercise — was completed, according to SEC.Eligible residents will be able to apply for inclusion, corrections or deletion of names between July 31 and Aug 30, SEC officials said after a training programme for electoral officers on Tuesday. Officials said notices related to claims and objections will be issued between July 31 and Sept 28, wherever required.The training, held at Mini Secretariat, was attended by assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) from the city, Sohna, Pataudi and Badshahpur assembly constituencies. Officials were briefed on handling claims and objections, issuing notices, verifying documents and updating the electoral roll.During the month-long window, residents can apply for inclusion of their names as new voters, seek corrections in existing entries or request deletion of names in cases such as a voter shifting to another location. Applications can be submitted both online and offline. Electoral registration officers (EROs) and AEROs will examine applications digitally before passing orders.The training also focused on the verification of supporting documents required for different age groups.According to Election Commission guidelines, voters born between July 1, 1987, and Dec 1, 2004, will have to submit prescribed documents relating to themselves and their parents.Those born on or after Dec 2, 2004, will need to furnish documents pertaining to themselves as well as both parents.Officials clarified that while Aadhaar can be used as proof of identity, it will not be accepted as proof of age or residence, for which only documents specified by EC will be considered.The department also asked BLOs to remain active during the claims and objections period. Special camps will be organised at polling stations on designated dates in Aug to receive applications and carry out field verification. Booth-level agents representing political parties have also been asked to coordinate with BLOs to help identify discrepancies and improve the accuracy of the electoral roll. Regular meetings with BLOs and BLAs will be held during the exercise, officials said.
