GOHANA (SONIPAT): A firing incident involving a bulletproof Scorpio was reported in Gohana, Sonipat district of Haryana, after four people returning from court were allegedly intercepted by a group of around eight to nine men travelling in two vehicles.The assailants reportedly opened several rounds of fire at the Scorpio. However, no one was injured in the incident.The incident took place near Nagar village on the Sonipat Road in Gohana. According to the information available, Ravinder, a resident of Barota village, was travelling in the Scorpio along with his brother and relatives. The four had gone to court to appear as witnesses and were returning after the proceedings.According to preliminary information, around eight to nine people travelling in two vehicles allegedly surrounded the Scorpio. The attackers reportedly positioned their vehicle in front of the Scorpio, blocking its way, before opening fire.The assailants are alleged to have fired around eight to nine rounds at the Scorpio before fleeing the spot in their vehicles.Bulletproof Scorpio saves 4 from gunfireFour people were inside the Scorpio at the time of the attack. Fortunately, the vehicle was bulletproof, and none of the occupants sustained any injuries despite the firing.Police spokesperson ASI Ravinder Singh said the incident took place near Nagar village and confirmed that no one was injured. He said the police are investigating the matter.Police Commissioner Says Dispute Is Land-Related, Rules Out Gang AngleSonipat Police Commissioner Mamta Singh, IPS, ADGP, said the matter appears to be related to a land dispute between the two sides.According to the Police Commissioner, the dispute is between the parties themselves and is not linked to any gang. She said that five police teams have been constituted to investigate the matter and apprehend those involved.The Police Commissioner said efforts are underway to arrest the accused as soon as possible and that further information will be released as the investigation progresses.The incident is reportedly linked to a dispute over around 4-5 acres of land, which has allegedly continued between the two sides for nearly one-and-a-half years.However, the exact circumstances surrounding the firing and the specific roles of those involved are yet to be established.
