Chennai: Gulf Air, national carrier of Bahrain, will temporarily operate its flights to Chennai from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, as Bahrain’s airspace remains closed due to prolonged escalation in the region.In its latest communication, the airline has announced it has expanded its temporary network via Dammam and that passengers can book flights via Dammam to multiple destinations, including Chennai, Mumbai, London, Bangkok and Frankfurt, for travel until March 28.The Dammam-Chennai flight will depart from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam at 5pm (local time) daily, while the Chennai-Dammam flight will depart from Chennai at 3.20am.“Regular services will resume once the Bahrain civil aviation affairs confirms the safe reopening of the airspace,” the airline said.Gulf Air will arrange transport between Bahrain and Dammam for passengers with confirmed tickets and assist with Saudi transit visas for those using its land transfer services.
