Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has released the provisional answer key for GujCET 2026 which was held for admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses. The board said errors were found in multiple question papers, leading to four compensatory marks for English-medium candidates and three for Gujarati- and Hindi-medium candidates. In the Mathematics paper, English-, Hindi- and Gujarati-medium students will be awarded one mark for an incorrect question. In the Physics and Chemistry papers, students from the three mediums will receive two marks for two erroneous questions. In the Biology paper, English-medium students will be awarded one mark for an error, taking the total compensatory marks to four for English-medium students and three for Gujarati- and Hindi-medium students.Additionally, in another Mathematics question, two options have been accepted as correct, and students who selected either option will receive marks. In Biology, Gujarati- and Hindi-medium students will also receive one mark if they have chosen either of the two correct options for one particular question.Students can challenge the provisional answer key until April 8 by submitting objections with supporting documents. The board has set an objection fee of Rs 500 per question. The amount will be refunded if the objection is accepted. After the objection period ends, subject experts will examine the representations before the final answer key is issued. The final key will be used to prepare GujCET 2026 results. The development follows similar discrepancies in the Class 12 Science provisional answer keys, which led to students being given free marks in Physics and Chemistry papers.
