Gandhinagar: The final list after special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Gujarat has recorded the total number of eligible voters in the state at 4,40,30,725. There were around 5,08,43,436 registered voters before SIR, marking a deletion of 68,12,711 voter names. The final list, published on Tuesday, added 5.6 lakh voters since the publication of the draft electoral rolls.
Gujarat chief electoral officer Harit Shukla said 34 district election officers, 182 electoral registration officers, 855 assistant electoral registration officers, 50,963 BLOs and many volunteers participated in the SIR exercise. Out of 5,08,43,436 voters, enumeration forms were received from 4,34,70,109 voters, all of which were completely digitised.
Reacting to the announcement, Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda said the figures vindicated Congress’ allegations of nearly 62 lakh suspicious voters with over 60 lakh incorrect voters removed in the final list. Chavda also demanded booth-wise public disclosure of where the 9.56 lakh voters were added and from which booths the 3.95 lakh voters were removed.
