Ahmedabad: GU has postponed over 150 upcoming exams due to local body election, delaying the academic schedule and likely delaying admissions to postgraduate courses through Gujarat Common Administrative Services portal. The university had previously planned to complete exams by May 21, but the revised schedule now places the final phase between May 21 and June 10.
Since evaluation and result processing usually take about a month, final semester results are now expected only by mid-July.
This is expected to delay admissions to postgraduate courses such as MA, MCom and MSc across state universities, as GCAS admissions can begin only after final-year results are declared.
The compressed timeline may also reduce the time available for steps like choice filling. Authorities had planned three admission rounds before transferring vacant seats to universities, but that schedule is now likely to shift. The postponement has also disrupted personal plans of students, parents and faculty, many of whom had already booked travel or accommodation for vacations in late April or early May. Separately, Gujarat University announced the second phase of recruitment exams. Candidates scoring 54 or more in the first phase will be eligible. Exams for pharmacist, engineer and administrative posts will be held on April 29, while senior and junior clerk exams are scheduled for April 30.
