According to the FSL’s preliminary opinion, Paswan may have climbed the tree himself and fashioned a noose by tearing a portion of the scarf. The remaining piece was allegedly used to tie his own hands in a manner suggesting self-restraint to prevent escape during the act. Relatives told police that Paswan suffered from mental health issues and often expressed fear that someone was trying to kill him. Police also learnt that he earlier was involved in a dispute between a contractor and a builder in Bihar and reportedly received threats.
