Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) announced its detailed action plan for the Classes 10 and 12 board exams scheduled to begin on Feb 26 and continue until March 18. According to official data, more than 15.28 lakh students will appear for the examinations this year, marking an increase of nearly 1 lakh students compared to last year’s 14.28 lakh candidates. Additionally, 1,341 students registered for Sanskrit Prathama and Madhyama exams.A total of 15,27,724 students registered for the board exams. Of these, 9,07,175 students will appear for Class 10, including 7,69,994 regular candidates, 19,825 private candidates, and 70,702 repeaters. In Class 12, 5,01,286 students registered in the general stream, while 1,19,263 students will appear in the science stream. The science stream includes 1,11,294 regular candidates, 7,690 repeaters, and 279 separate candidates.The board also reported that 7,363 differently abled students registered this year, including 4,877 in Class 10, 2,292 in Class 12 general, and 193 in Class 12 science.To conduct the exams, the board selected 1,701 centres across the state. Exams will be held in 5,565 buildings and 53,764 blocks. Class 10 exams will be conducted across 87 zones at 1,006 centres, while Class 12 exams will be organised in 59 zones at 695 centres.A total of 99 prisoners will also appear for the exams, including 59 in Class 10 and 40 in Class 12. Special arrangements were made in central jails in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Surat. Last year, 113 prisoners appeared for the board exams.
