Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has announced a revised classification of 268 talukas across all 34 districts into two categories under its Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy-2026, seeking to provide greater clarity on incentives for new industrial units and expansion of projects while promoting investment across different regions. The revised classification, announced by the industries and mines department, places 130 talukas in Category A and 138 in Category B. The exercise takes into account the creation of new talukas and the provisions of the new industrial policy, an official statement said on Sunday. Category A talukas are lesser developed than category B talukas. The classification is intended to help entrepreneurs identify the applicable category and understand the incentives available for projects based on their location. However, the benefits will be subject to the eligibility criteria, rules and conditions prescribed under individual schemes. The statement said the new industrial policy places particular emphasis on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), startups, women entrepreneurs and first-generation entrepreneurs. It also seeks to encourage investment in green industrial parks, wastewater recycling, clean manufacturing technologies and the circular economy.
