Gandhinagar: Gujarat govt is exploring Japanese technical assistance to expand the network of compressed biogas (CBG) plants. The state govt, Suzuki Motor Corporation and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are expected to sign an MoU soon.A meeting to discuss the proposed collaboration was held in Gandhinagar on Wednesday, an official statement said. The Japanese delegation included Toyokazu Nagamune, regional representative of Japan’s ministry of economy, trade and industry; Suzuki Motor Corporation managing officer Kenichiro Toyofuku; JICA India chief representative Takuro Takeuchi and senior representative Sota Koide.An official statement said the proposed initiative envisages setting up CBG plants through cooperative dairy organisations with govt support. The statement added that representatives of Suzuki and JICA presented a detailed proposal for providing financial and technical assistance to expand biogas plants in Gujarat. The proposal received a positive initial response, according to the state govt.“Based on the discussions, Gujarat govt, Suzuki and JICA are expected to enter into a formal MoU in the coming period,” the statement added.
