Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s revenue from State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) rose 28% year-on-year to Rs 8,312 crore in Aug 2026, compared with Rs 6,470 crore in Aug 2025. This significant growth reflects strong economic activity across key commercial sectors.The state collected Rs 41,691 crore from SGST during the first five months of FY2026-27, up 28% from Rs 32,490 crore in the corresponding period last year, demonstrating consistent fiscal expansion. Besides SGST, the state collected Rs 3,047 crore through VAT, Rs 1,125 crore from electricity duty, Rs 1,180 crore in Integrated GST (IGST) settlements, and Rs 22 crore from business tax in Aug. These additional revenue streams contributed heavily to the total monthly collection.The combined revenue from ST, VAT, electricity duty and business tax stood at Rs 12,505 crore during the month, helping the state maintain a robust financial posture as tax compliance and industrial output continue to rise across urban centres.
