Ahmedabad: Gujarat has become the first state in India to integrate all major emergency services under a single emergency number, 112, covering police, medical, fire, women and child emergency services.On Wednesday, the fire emergency service (101) was integrated into the 112 ecosystem, officials said.“Earlier, fire emergencies were reported through 101 to city-level control rooms, and information was relayed manually. Now, these emergencies will be handled through 112, providing digital visibility of vehicle dispatch, arrival, incident completion and return times,” said a senior EMRI official.In the first phase, six municipal corporations, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar and Bhavnagar, have been brought under the integrated system. The network includes 237 fire and rescue vehicles, officials added.
