Gandhinagar: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday launched Praveshotsav, the statewide school enrolment drive, from a school in Vadnagar district of north Gujarat. Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi was present at a school in Adalaj, while ministers and officials panned out to other districts to launch the three-day programme.Speaking at the event, the CM urged the administration to ensure 100% student enrolment to accelerate the mission of providing educational services. “With the use of technology in education, govt is committed to ensuring that every child completes schooling, and parents share an equal responsibility in this effort,” the CM said.DyCM Sanghavi said that the happiness on the faces of children being admitted to kindergarten and Class 1 reflects the success of Praveshotsav.As part of the drive, approximately 28.6 lakh children will be admitted in 38,400 schools across the state. Children who are above 5 years and below 6 years of age as on June 1 will be admitted to kindergarten, while children who are above 6 years and below 7 years of age as on June 1 will be admitted to Class 1. In addition, students who have passed Class 8 (primary) will be admitted to Class 9 (secondary), and students who have passed Class 10 (secondary) will be admitted to Class 11 (higher secondary).
