Gandhinagar: The state assembly on Wednesday passed the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, which removed the deadline of April 30, 2026, for clinical establishments to get registered. Instead, the amendment said that the govt can determine the deadline for registration from time to time by issuing a notification.Introducing the bill, health minister Praful Pansheriya said the act was enacted in 2021 and has been in force since Sept 13, 2022. He added that under the law, registration is mandatory for small clinics to multispecialty hospitals and laboratories. As of March 20, 2026, approximately 41,000 provisional and 2,000 permanent registrations have been completed in the state, he added. The minister said that Section 9 of the act, which made registration compulsory before April 30, 2026, has been amended. Institutions must apply for registration within the time-frame determined by the state govt through notifications in the gazette. “This will eliminate the need for frequent legal amendments,” the minister said. He added that the same will apply for provisional registrations as well.
