Ahmedabad: A 57-year-old businessman on Monday lodged a complaint at Bodakdev police station after unknown persons allegedly assaulted staff and looted cash and valuables worth Rs 92,000 from his guest house in Thaltej during the early hours of Sunday.According to the complaint, Mulsingh Purohit, a resident of Ghatlodia, owns Hotel Rajvanshi, a guest house near Bhai Kaka Nagar bus stand in Thaltej. The premises employ two staff members, Giriraj Meena and Devilaal Patel, who work as managers. Purohit said that at around 4.30am on Monday, he received a phone call from Meena stating that some men had attacked him and taken away cash. When Purohit reached the guest house, Meena informed him that around 3.45am, two men came in asking for a room. While taking them to room number 203, they allegedly overpowered him, assaulted him, and demanded money. Shortly afterwards, a third accomplice entered the hotel and threatened Meena with a knife, warning him not to raise an alarm. The accused then dragged him to the reception area. When Meena shouted for help, Patel woke up from the staff room, but the accused broke open the counter and a locker before fleeing with cash and valuables. The stolen items include about Rs 2,000 from the counter, Rs 72,000 from the locker, a computer monitor, a television set, and two mobile phones belonging to the hotel and the staff. CCTV footage shows three suspects inside the hotel and a fourth accomplice standing on the staircase. All four later escaped in a white car towards Thaltej. Bodakdev police have registered a case of robbery and initiated further investigation.
