Madikeri: Former minister Appachu Ranjan accused the Congress govt of draining the state treasury in the name of guarantee schemes.Addressing a meeting of BJP Shakti Kendra workers at Mahila Samaj in Nanjarayapatna on Sunday, he said that during the previous BJP govt, MLAs were given Rs 250–300 crore annually for constituency development.Ranjan alleged that the Siddaramaiah govt has imposed a debt burden of lakhs of rupees on every person in the state in pursuit of free gifts. He claimed that Congress MLAs themselves are openly unhappy that no development projects are being implemented anywhere in the state.He said that while sanctioned works were implemented during the previous BJP govt in the Madikeri constituency, no new development projects have been taken up in the last three years.BJP Shakti Kendra taluk president Gautam said people were tired of the Congress’ mismanagement and lack of development.Former TP member Viju was elected president of the Nanjarayapatna Shakti Kendra at the meeting. BJP district vice-president R K Chandru, former gram panchayat member Mavaji Ravi, and former Shakti Kendra president Naveen were present.
