Mysuru: Former minister and Chamundeshwari MLA GT Devegowda on Monday directed officials to ensure water supply to all villages during the summer season. He directed officials to take preventive measures to avoid last-minute panic.Speaking at a meeting in the ZP hall, he urged administrative officers and PDOs of the gram panchayats in his constituency to work responsibly in the absence of elected members. He emphasised weekly visits to villages, coordination among officials, and early identification of water-scarce areas to arrange alternative supply systems.“Schools, anganwadis, and crematoriums must be prioritised for drinking water,” he said, and instructed officials to check infrastructure such as pipelines and ensure connectivity to all streets.Devegowda called for revising action plans by prioritising water supply and sanitation. Funds from the 15th finance commission, interest income, and tax collections should be effectively utilised. Repairs of buildings and basic facilities in villages must be included in development plans.He also stressed protecting govt school properties by ensuring proper land records (RTC) through coordination between revenue, education, and rural development departments. Cleanliness, waste segregation, and identifying land for waste management were highlighted as key responsibilities.Officials were asked to prepare a comprehensive report of village needs, including schools, anganwadis, and water facilities, by the first week of April.ZP CEO S Ukesh Kumar advised officers to work with ground-level understanding to resolve issues efficiently.
