Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2026 Qualifier 2: Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan run away with the chase.
Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals Highlights, IPL 2026 Qualifier 2: A rematch of the IPL 2022 final, this time in Qualifier 2 to decide who will go through. Some things are similar compared to the last time this pair of teams met in the playoffs, but much more have changed – Jos Buttler for one, has crossed the divide to be a GT player, while RR have reprised his superstar role at the top of their order with a player who was 11 years old the last time RR made it to this stage of the tournament.
GT were dominant through the group stages, riding a consistent top three and a devastating fast-bowling attack led by Kagiso Rabada tot ake them to the first Qualifier game. Once there, however, GT were outclassed and destroyed, first by Rajat Patidar, then by the RCB bowling as their own usually-dependable batting completely collapsed. With the all-important second shot, Shubman Gill’s team makes the descent from Dharamshala down the Himalayas to New Chandigarh, where RR lie in wait.
Equally as dominant a win as RCB’s came via the other half of the Royal Rivalry, as Rajasthan decimated SRH in the Eliminator. With the team’s fate on the line, there was no question of fear or safety for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi – the teenager played his best yet, scoring 97 off 29 and falling agonisingly short of a T20 record. It was enough to push RR to a very healthy total despite a late collapse – but it was Jofra Archer’s magic with the new ball to dull SRH’s own threat that got the job done.
So now, back in Mullanpur for the third of three playoff games leading up to the finals. Defending champs RCB lie in wait, eager for back-to-back trophies. But equally hungry will be a pair of teams with very different reasons for being here. Inaugural champs RR, winless since 2008, trying to end a long drought and make the most of a near-supernatural season from the bat of Sooryavanshi. GT, with a chance to go into their third final in five years, establishing themselves as the single most consistent team of the IPL if they do get there.
The key battle, to nobody’s shock, will be how GT’s new ball bowlers fare against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Mohammed Siraj had some success against him earlier this tournament, but fans won’t have forgotten how the brutal lefty introduced himself with a century against this very bowling attack last year. He is not daunted even by the best bowlers in the world – but RR are aware that the remainder of the team, packed with talent but not quite delivering, need to pick up their own weight and give him some solid support.
The Final awaits. Who wants it more?

Tewatia wraps it up in style! GT go back to Ahmedabad for the FINAL
Rahul Tewatia comes in and with a few swings of the bat sends RR home! Heartbreak for the team in pink as they fall short, but tonight was the night for Shubman Gill in his hometown, as his century helps GT go back to the final in their hometown.
So there it is – RCB vs GT, in Ahmedabad, on Sunday night. See you then!

Washington falls trying to go big
These wickets all coming far too late for RR. Sliced into the air as Burger picks up a wicket, but it’s only 14 needed off 17.
May 29, 2026 11:13:19 PM IST
4, 6! Washington wants to get done in a hurry
Washington Sundar hits two picture-perfect off-drives over the top to perfection – one bounces right in front of the fence, the other right behind. Terrific.

Gill’s fine innings ends! Late joy for Archer – a little too late
Plumb! Gill finally misses one – mistimed a couple in this over already, and he wasn’t doing that all innings. But he has done his job, even if he can’t finish it off – he can trust Jos Buttler to take it home from here.
Phenomenal knock. 33 needed off 30.

CENTURY FOR SHUBMAN GILL!
The captain needed to step up for his team and he has just done that! Took him 30 balls to get to his fifty, and a further 17 to get his second fifty – a terrific, terrific innings, and one which has given his team the game.
Run-a-ball or thereabouts needed now.

Can you believe it, Sai Sudharsan is hit-wicket AGAIN!
Sai Sudharsan, invest in a pair of better gloves or some heavier grip on your bat! Sudharsan loses control of his bat as he slices one away, and the bat tumbles back onto his wicket AGAIN! Twice in the space of a week, and Gill down the other end falls to his knees – he cannot believe his eyes!

17 run over follows… GT coasting
Sensational stuff. Boundaries of pure class and placement – they are making batting look artistic.
May 29, 2026 10:40:00 PM IST
Now fifty for Sudharsan off 26 deliveries!
Beautifully done! Short and wide from Punja, Sudharsan rocks back quickly and hammers it off the back-foot over extra cover. This partnership has been a pleasure to watch.

Beautiful batting from Gill! Plunders Jadeja for 19
Excellent, excellent batting! Playing with the field, playing with the bowling. First steps down for six, then sweeps fine for six, then cuts to pierce the gap for four. No stopping GT now – 88 needed off 60 with all 10 wickets in hand!
May 29, 2026 10:33:26 PM IST
30-ball fifty for Gill as century stand comes up!
This pair is extremely high quality – they might not have the six-hitting power of some other names, but they prove that never being dismissed remains one of the keys in any form of cricket!
GT running away now – 108/0 after 9 overs. 107 needed off 66, and they are totally in charge.

First signs of spin – RR need a breakthrough
Here is Yash Raj Punja, who has been impressive in his first IPL season. But this is the biggest call for him – he needs to make a difference against two quality players of spin. His height is his great asset – anything on offer for him?
May 29, 2026 10:11:31 PM IST
Gill and Sudharsan streaking away – they knew this kind of start was crucial. Need to make as much of the powerplay as possible – and RR really need a wicket.

CHANCE GOES BEGGING! Sudharsan survives
Sudharsan dropped one in the first innings, and now gets luck of his own! Tries to pull Burger but it’s a top edge that goes miles in the air. Ferreira can’t quite circle underneat it as he tracks back from square leg, and ultimately can’t get even a finger on it! Lucky break.

19 PLUNDERED OFF FIRST OVER!
What a start for GT, just what they needed! Sudharsan and Gill trade fours right through the over and it’s a ferocious start – Archer can’t do what he did against SRH!
May 29, 2026 9:45:26 PM IST
Sudharsan and Gill arrive at the crease – 214 is just about within their wheelhouse, but they have the early challenge of Archer and Burger to deal with. Here we go!
May 29, 2026 9:29:40 PM IST
27 OFF THE LAST OVER! Ferreira takes RR to 214/6
TERRIFIC BATTING! 11 balls, four sixes and two fours in those to give him a rapid 38*.
His knock, and Sooryavanshi’s 96, manage to push RR to 214/6 – something to bowl at if Archer can get some early damage for them!
May 29, 2026 9:26:05 PM IST
6, 6! Ferreira flexes the muscles to get 200 with 3 balls to play
Why have they kept Donovan Ferreira away! They know he can do this late – but surely he can do it earlier too!
Sharp, quick swings, but middles them twice to pick up two big sixes. There’s the 200 – can he get some bonus runs?
May 29, 2026 9:24:09 PM IST
RR on 187/6 with one over to play
Donovan Ferreira gets a couple of fours away – last over coming up, and the target will certainly be 200-205 from here. Rashid to bowl it – can Ferreira connect with a couple?
May 29, 2026 9:15:57 PM IST
IT’S HAPPENED AGAIN! Sooryavanshi falls at deep third man, this time on 96!
Sooryavanshi can’t get to his century! Just like two days ago, falls just short of his ton, and once again, it’s an uppercut down to third that doesn’t quite have the distance!
He was looking excellent – this could be a massive moment for GT. Have to feel for the young man!
May 29, 2026 9:11:34 PM IST
Sooryavanshi onto 96*! Giving the innings momentum again
He’s waited for the matchup, waited for Washington Sundar, and takes full toil! A pair of sixes, and he’s into the 90s AGAIN! This player… something else entirely.
May 29, 2026 9:04:48 PM IST
4, 6, 4 – Sooryavanshi with the most ridiculous shot you will ever see!
Bouncer dug in, at head high, and he just swats it like he’s playing badminton or tennis! There is no way you should be able to send that down the ground for six – field is in, so he knows there’s value to this shot, and he finds all of it! Spectacular.
May 29, 2026 9:03:24 PM IST
Sooryavanshi onto 67*. Has the platform but here is a phase he is relatively untested in at this level – deep into an innings and having been out there for a long time.
May 29, 2026 8:48:04 PM IST
Can’t stop him from scoring runs – the slowest of his IPL career, took him a whopping 31 balls. Such are the standards that he has set.
Jadeja back to give him support – you have to ask, where on earth is Ferreira?
May 29, 2026 8:44:37 PM IST
Archer promoted, and connects with one – but gone right after!
Jofra Archer sent in ahead of Ferreira – his only idea will be to swing hard and give some support to Archer.
But that doesn’t last long! Tries to go after some width but only gets a thick edge. Easy catch for Buttler.
Gets one six, but it’s now 118/5 – RR with some questionable tactics!
May 29, 2026 8:39:26 PM IST
Now Shanaka falls! Struggle ends
Dasun Shanaka just couldn’t get going, and Jason Holder takes advantage with a sharp bouncer. Shanaka can only get glove on it – 3(9) from him, not the innings you want.
RR losing steam through this phase of the game. 39 off the last 33 balls, most of it in that one big over off Rashid.
