Greenery to Return to Jhuriwala; Pledge Taken to Plant 1,000 SaplingsTimes News NetworkPanchkula: Following the removal of Jhuriwala dumping ground that allowed local residents to finally breathe easy in a clean environment after years, a pledge has now been taken to restore the greenery that was lost to the area.Sector 25 residents and the group ‘Yakshas – The nature’s shield’ have resolved to plant 1,000 saplings in the Jhuriwala forest and install tree guards to protect them. This campaign will be conducted in two phases; the first phase will commence on June 27, 2026, at 8am in the Jhuriwala forest (near Sector 25).Campaign coordinator Nitesh Mittal stated that the objective of this initiative was not merely to plant saplings, but to ensure the safety of each plant until it matures into a tree. To this end, tree guards will be installed alongside the saplings. He described this as a public participation campaign aimed at restoring Jhuriwala’s lost greenery, emphasizing that the involvement of all sections of society is essential.He appealed to city residents to join the campaign with their families and children, plant a sapling provided by the organizers, and pledge their commitment to nature conservation.This campaign is being organized with the support of several assocations and the local MC.The organizers have called upon social organizations, youth, students, environmental enthusiasts, and city residents to participate in large numbers and make this public campaign a success.
