Canacona85 traditional Shigmotsav troubles Quepem, Sanguem and Canacona have gotsanction orders of Rs 2 lakh each, and which were distributed under Art andCulture department’s, ” Mandd Sanskriti Yojana”, on Tuesday.Art and culture minister Ramesh Tawadkar after distributing the sanctionletters stated that various schemes will be improvised to preserve thesetraditional festivals, rituals and fairs in the state. He also mentionedthat a scheme has been prepared to support the Dhalo festival and said thatthree prizes for the best of the reels made by the traditional Shigmogroups, will be assigned during the current year’s government organisedShigmotsav celebrations.In his speech, Tawadkar said that a cultured individual society and villageoffers the true identity of the state and this identity needs to bemaintained through traditional art and folklore. Even today, Goans feelthat Cashew Feni is the nectar of Goa, but it is important that we changethis image. We need to change the beach, Casino and drug culture, and addedthat just but 30% of the people are involved, when 70% of the people aremade to face the stigma.On this occasion, Tawadkar announced financial assistance for sports eventsto three active clubs in Canacona.Elaborating further, Tawadkar said that this financial assistance of Rs 2lakh is/will be given to purchase musical instruments like Dhol, Tanse,Ghumot and traditional costumes(attires) for the traditional Shigmofestivals in the state.
