Shopian, Sep 25: Advocate Gowhar Hassan Wani has been re-elected as President of the District Bar Association Shopian, defeating his rival Advocate Mubashir Ahmed Gatoo by a margin of 28 votes in the elections held on September 22.
Wani secured the confidence of the Bar in a closely watched contest, with 170 of the 175 eligible members casting their votes, recording a turnout of 97.14 per cent.
The re-election of Gowhar Hassan Wani marks his continuation at the helm of the Shopian Bar. He is a practising advocate before the J&K and Ladakh High Court and subordinate courts and is regarded within the local legal fraternity for his professional engagement and leadership of the Bar.
Wani’s re-election comes amid a period of significant institutional and legal developments concerning the District Bar Association Shopian.
