Times News NetworkNew Delhi: Delhi govt will source around 2 lakh national flags from self-help groups (SHGs) for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign ahead of Independence Day, chief minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday.Govt also wants to distribute more than 15 lakh Tricolours across the capital.The initiative aims to promote public participation, patriotism and national unity, while creating livelihood opportunities for SHGs.Around 2 lakh national flags will be produced by eligible SHGs identified and organised by the state urban livelihood mission.Gupta said the campaign is not only about hoisting the national flag, but also about strengthening the spirit of patriotism.She said involving SHGs reflects govt’s approach of linking public welfare initiatives with livelihood opportunities. The state urban livelihood mission will organise the eligible groups for making the flags.The chief minister said for broad public participation in the campaign, more than 15 lakh national flags will be distributed across the city. These flags will be procured online.
