Bhubaneswar: Odisha govt will promote the overall development and protection of Puri Govardhan Peeth, established by Adi Shankaracharya, and further spread the culture of Lord Jagannath. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by CM Mohan Charan Majhi here on Wednesday. At the meeting, Majhi held discussions with representatives of the Peeth on safeguarding its properties and enhancing Puri’s spiritual significance.The CM suggested a fresh and thorough review of old land settlement records to find a lasting solution to the land-related issues of Govardhan Peeth. He also directed officials to strengthen the security of Jagadguru Shankaracharya and safety arrangements on the Peeth premises. “Separate steps will be taken to protect and preserve the sacred samadhi sites of all former Acharyas of the Peeth. The meeting also discussed providing necessary facilities for the proper management of the Shri Govardhan Gaushala located on the monastery premises, along with the development of the surrounding areas of the math,” Majhi said.He laid special emphasis on the daily Sandhya Mahodadhi Aarti held on the beach opposite Swargadwar in Puri. He said the aarti site would be beautified and the evening ritual would be organised on a grander scale. He also instructed the administration to develop the entire Puri beachfront as a spiritual shoreline.Revenue minister Suresh Pujari, law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, saints of Govardhan Peeth and senior state govt officials, including chief secretary Anu Garg, attended the meeting and held detailed discussions on the institution’s development.
