Prayagraj: A govt school teacher allegedly killed his wife with a sickle following a dispute at their rented house in Fatehpur city on Saturday morning. The victim’s family alleged that his suspected affair with a teacher at his school had repeatedly triggered quarrels between the couple. Police have launched a search for the accused, identified as Dilip Kumar Yadav (32).The incident took place in the Nasirpir locality under Kotwali police station around 9 am. According to police and family members, Dilip and his wife, Shalini (29), had an argument over an issue that escalated into a physical altercation. In a fit of rage, Dilip allegedly hit Shalini’s head with a sickle. When she tried to flee, he allegedly struck both her legs as well, leaving her critically injured.After the attack, Dilip allegedly called his in-laws and told them that Shalini had fallen into a tub. When Shalini’s family reached the house, they found her lying on the floor in a pool of blood. A sickle was also found nearby.Police rushed Shalini to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. A police team, accompanied by DSP Pramod Kumar Shukla and forensic personnel, reached the spot and began collecting evidence.Dilip, who works as an assistant teacher at a primary school in Chak Alipur, had married Shalini, a teacher at a private school in Fatehpur, on Dec 3, 2017. The couple had been living in a rented house in the city for nine months and had a seven-year-old son, who was not at home when the incident occurred.Shalini’s father alleged that Dilip was having an affair with a teacher at his school and that the issue had repeatedly led to quarrels between the couple. He said the family had confronted and counselled Dilip several times following Shalini’s complaints, but his behaviour did not change.Police said efforts were underway to trace Dilip, while the body was sent for postmortem examination.
