Hyderabad: A 37-year-old govt teacher died by suicide at her residence in Kothagudem town late on Sunday, allegedly due to harassment by her husband, who is also a teacher. The deceased was identified as Bhukya Kavitha, a teacher at Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in Bhadrachalam. Her husband, Maloth Nageshwar Rao, works as a teacher at the Govt High School in Burgampahad. The couple got married in 2014 and has two children.“On Sunday evening, Kavitha and Nageshwar Rao had an argument over family matters. After the argument, Kavitha went into the bedroom. Neither Nageshwar Rao nor the children checked on her for a couple of hours. As she did not come out for a long time, at around 9 pm, Nageshwar Rao tried to open the door, but it was latched from the inside. He then peeped through the window and found Kavitha hanging from the ceiling fan,” Kothagudem I Town SI G Vijaya said.Police were alerted, and the body was shifted for autopsy. In her complaint, Kavitha’s mother, Bhukya Hachi, alleged that Nageshwar Rao physically assaulted Kavitha during the argument. “Due to the harassment of Nageshwar Rao, his parents, and other family members, my daughter died by suicide,” Hachi alleged. Based on the complaint, Kothagudem I Town police registered a case under Sections 85 (husband or relative of husband subjecting a married woman to cruelty) and 108 (Abetment of suicide) of the BNS against Nageshwar Rao; his parents, Maloth Laxmi and Maloth Jagan; his brother, Maloth Ramakrishna; sister-in-law Maloth Usha; and niece Rohini on Monday. No arrests have been made yet.
