Lucknow: UP govt has approved Rs 9 crore for installing CCTV cameras to strengthen traffic management in 57 districts.According to an order issued by special secretary, Dinesh Kumar, the project will cover districts that are not included under the Integrated Traffic Management System and Smart City projects.

“Districts like Hardoi, Sitapur, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Unnao, Azamgarh, Mau, Mirzapur, Basti, Gonda, Hathras, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, and other western UP districts will be covered. A total of 1,338 CCTV cameras will be installed at 297 key traffic points, including 150 major intersections and 147 T-junctions,” Kumar said. Each major intersection will be equipped with five cameras while each T-junction will have four. The estimated expenditure per intersection is Rs 3.21 lakh while each T-junction will cost around Rs 2.83 lakh. The total expenditure for intersections is pegged at Rs 4.82 crore and Rs 4.16 crore for T-junctions. The infrastructure will include high-resolution bullet cameras, PTZ cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), UPS systems, poles, junction boxes and high-speed internet connectivity. Authorities were instructed to complete the installation process by March 31.
