T’puram: Chief minister V D Satheesan rejected KSU’s demand to reconsider the appointment of govt pleader Jiona James, despite objections raised by its state president Aloshious Xavier over her ‘political’ background.During a 20-minute meeting at Secretariat on Monday, Xavier urged the chief minister to revoke James’ appointment, claiming that she had an SFI background during her days at law college and that she maintains a pro-Left stance. But Satheesan reportedly told the KSU delegation that govt will not review the decision. He said the list of appointments including James will go ahead as planned because the govt order has been issued.Addressing reporters after the meeting, Xavier said KSU had conveyed its concerns to the CM but reiterated that the final decision rests with the govt. “James was with SFI during her law college days and is still aligned with Left politics. We have placed these concerns before the CM. Govt must decide now and we have full faith in it and the party,” he said.Xavier added that KSU expected the govt to take a decision reflecting the organization’s spirit, while stressing that there was no question of launching an open confrontation against the govt. “This is our govt and our CM. We have communicated everything we wanted to say and the CM listened patiently. We are satisfied with the discussion,” he said.KSU leaders were disappointed by the CM’s refusal but did not express their dissatisfaction publicly. Party sources said KPCC advised them against making further public statements on the issue making additional reactions unlikely.
