Mandya: District minister N Cheluvarayaswamy on Wednesday stated that govt employees must serve as an effective bridge between the administration and the public to ensure that welfare schemes and govt benefits reach every eligible citizen in a timely manner.He was speaking at the Govt Employees’ Day and Civil Services Day celebrations held at Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan, where he inaugurated the ‘Sarvottama Seva Awards’ programme organised jointly by the district administration, zilla panchayat and the Karnataka State Govt Employees Association.The minister observed that nearly 16,000 of the 18,000 govt employees serving in Mandya district belong to the local region, and therefore have a greater responsibility toward the district’s development. He urged officials and staff to work with dedication, honesty and accountability while addressing public grievances.Mandya MLA P Ravikumar called upon govt employees to maintain a positive and service-oriented attitude while dealing with the public. He also pledged Rs 5 lakh for the construction of Teachers’ Bhavan and assured that efforts would be made to secure a grant of Rs 1 crore for the Govt Employees’ Bhavan after discussions with the chief minister.Deputy commissioner Kumara and ZP CEO KR Nandini were present.
