T’puram: The state govt has increased the allowance paid to police personnel who are on duty during the Onam season from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.The revised allowance will be paid to all cops who are deployed on duty during Onam.The Rs 500 allowance was introduced around 15 years ago by the then UDF govt. The allowance has now been doubled on the recommendation of home minister Ramesh Chennithala.
