Dumka: A 48-year-old govt doctor was found dead in an inspection bungalow of the state irrigation department in Masanjore on Saturday, police said. The deceased, identified as Dr Shashi Dinkar Minj was a resident of Bariatu in Ranchi. Minj was posted Hazaribag Sadar Hospital. His wife, also a doctor, is currently posted in Jamshedpur. The couple has two daughters.Minj, police said, arrived at Masanjore on Friday with three friends – Sunil Kumar Singh, Anil Kumar Singh and Neeraj Kumar — on a leisure trip. The group checked into two rooms of the bungalow.Minj lay motionless in his bed when his friends tried to wake up him in the morning. When alerted, cops from the Masanjore police station reached the bungalow and had Minj examined by a doctor, who declared him dead.The body was later sent to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH) in Dumka for post-mortem examination, and the family was informed. Friends of Minj told the police that they consumed liquor on Friday before retiring to their respective rooms. The cause of death was not known till the evening.“A local doctor examined him and confirmed the death. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and all aspects of the case are being investigated,” said Awadhesh Kumar, the officer-in charge of Masanjore police station.
