Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Saturday alleged that the Congress govt had cancelled works worth Rs 1,070 crore in the Siddipet assembly constituency. Alleging political vendetta, the former minister demanded that the govt restore all the cancelled projects and developmental works in the constituency. Addressing a press conference in Siddipet, Harish said that the veterinary college, which had already been initiated in Siddipet, was shifted to Kodangal, the chief minister’s assembly constituency. He said the works that were halted or cancelled include the Ranganayaka Sagar tourism project, Komati Cheruvu Shilparamam, Siddipet outer ring road, agriculture college, Mittapalli SC gurukulam, Siddipet sports stadium, Siddipet–Illanthakunta and Siddipet–Kishtapur four-lane roads, and auditorium and integrated market projects.Harish, who also wrote an open letter to the CM demanding restoration of the works, said that in the last two and a half years, not a single new development project had been sanctioned for Siddipet by the Congress govt. He stated that all the projects being inaugurated during the chief minister’s visit were approved, funded, and completed during the previous BRS govt tenure.“The effort is ours, but the credit is being claimed by Revanth Reddy,” Harish said. He added that while the CM’s name may appear on foundation stones, the people of Siddipet will always remember KCR. He highlighted that the Rs 300 crore oil palm factory at Narmetta is a BRS initiative. Land measuring 62 acres was acquired through TGIIC, farmers were encouraged to cultivate oil palm, and infrastructure, including water supply, was developed during the previous govt.He said the factory depends on water from the Kaleshwaram project, which was earlier criticised by Revanth Reddy. “It is unfortunate that the same project is now being relied upon,” he said. Harish added that several health infrastructure projects being inaugurated now were also developed during his tenure as health minister.
