HYDERABAD: A woman suffered injuries after a car driven by a Tollywood producer’s driver hit her in Abids on Wednesday evening.Police said that Mahananda (35) was alone in the car when the accident occurred.The victim, Sunitha, a resident of Nampally, was walking on the road when the parked car was suddenly driven at high speed and struck her from the opposite direction. Locals caught the driver at the spot.The injured woman, a housekeeping staff member at a government bank, was shifted to a nearby hospital.During the investigation, police found that the electric vehicle (EV) used by Mahananda belonged to a film producer. The victim’s family members approached the producer, seeking help with the medical expenses.An alleged audio conversation between the producer and the victim’s family members later went viral. According to reports, the producer refused to assist them and asked them to file a case against the driver.CCTV footage of the accident was also widely circulated on social media.Mahananda, a resident of Boduppal, allegedly told the victim’s family that he was returning after dropping the producer’s wife. However, the producer denied the claim.Police have registered a case under Section 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
