Jhansi: The North Central Railway’s Jhansi division has increased the speed limit of trains on the Jhansi–Govindpuri section to 130 kmph from the existing 110 kmph, aiming to reduce travel time and improve punctuality. The announcement was made by Divisional Railway Manager Anirudh Kumar after a technical review meeting with concerned officials. The enhanced speed will apply to trains operating on the 211-km stretch between Jhansi and Govindpuri.Officials said the section had earlier seen significant improvement with the commissioning of double line tracks between Jhansi and Kanpur, replacing the earlier single-line system that often led to delays and longer journey times. The DRM said the milestone was achieved within a limited timeframe through continuous efforts, coordination among departments and completion of extensive work related to track strengthening, signalling systems, traction and other railway infrastructure.According to railway officials, the speed upgradation is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce overall travel time and enhance passenger convenience. tnn
