Krishnagiri: A govt schoolteacher was arrested on Friday night on charges of sending obscene text messages to a 22-year-old woman colleague.Police identified the arrested as V Tirupathi, 40, of Ondiyanur village near Thippanapalli. He is a mathematics graduate teacher at the Panchayat Union Middle School in Chennappalli village near Shoolagiri.Investigation revealed that since the post of headmaster was vacant in the school, a woman teacher was appointed as temporary in charge headmistress, and Tirupathi was assigned to assist her. “Tirupathi got the woman’s phone number on the pretext of sharing work-related information. However, he later sent her obscene text messages,” said a police officer.The woman lodged a complaint with the all-women police station in Hosur, following which Tirupathi was arrested.Meanwhile, Hosur educational district officer, Narasimman has initiated an inquiry into the incident. An education department official said Tirupathi would likely be suspended following a departmental inquiry.
