Panaji: A day after banning the sale of fuel in jerry cans and plastic containers, govt relaxed the restriction for fishermen, educational institutions, and diesel generator operators. District collectors issued revised orders on Saturday, partially modifying Friday’s directive.“The restrictions imposed shall not apply to the sale and use of petrol or diesel for the purposes, subject to due verification and adherence to safety norms, of fishermen and fishing-related activities, fishing vessels and other navigation vessels, educational institutions, and use in diesel generator sets,” said South Goa collector Egna Cleetus.Govt added that other essential and bona fide services may be permitted by competent authorities to purchase fuel as required with immediate effect. The move by govt on Friday to ban sale of fuel in containers came after panic buying was reported in many parts of state.
