Nagpur: A 36-year-old goon narrowly escaped death after being shot at twice and assaulted near the Lumbini Nagar gate in Mankapur late Saturday evening.According to the FIR registered at Mankapur police station, complainant Isan Akil Khan, reportedly belonging to Baba Tiger gang, was standing outside the monastery around 8.30pm when three men arrived on a motorcycle. The main accused, identified as Karim Lala (45), allegedly fired two rounds from a black pistol but Khan escaped being hit. Lala then struck Khan on the right eye with the butt of the gun.

Accompanied by Pammu (46) and two unidentified accomplices, the group reportedly overpowered and beat the victim before fleeing the scene. Khan sustained injuries to the eye and other parts of the body but was reported to be stable. Police have registered a case under BNS sections 109, 115(2), 352, 3(5) read with Section 34, along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. No arrests were made so far. Investigators suspect the attack stemmed from personal enmity.
