Nagpur: District collector Kumar Ashirwad said two major safety violations had emerged in the Godhani chlorine leak incident and indicated that action would be taken after Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) officials are heard next week.Ashirwad said the chlorine tonner had corroded, causing the leak, while hazardous material was being stored in the open instead of a sealed enclosure. He said facilities handling such material, especially in densely populated areas, must have adequate containment systems.Ashirwad said one patient, Yash, had a low SpO2 level and was shifted from Mayo Hospital to KIMS-Kingsway. He has since been moved to the general ward. The administration will bear the treatment expenses of all those affected, he said.The collector said facilities handling hazardous material must submit periodic safety reports. The administration will fix responsibility after hearing the MJP officials, he added.
