Panaji: Goa police have prepared a list of drug peddlers operating around schools and colleges and decided to arrest them. Director general of police Alok Kumar said, “Both North and South Goa district police prepared a list of drug peddlers, and action will be taken against them.”MLAs raised concerns about drugs penetrating villages, schools and colleges. The state govt assured the House that action would be taken against those involved.With nearly a 700% rise in the value of drug seizures in 2025 compared to 2024, police shifted focus to targeting the core narcotics network and arresting kingpins, major dealers and distributors. Action will also be taken against those using the dark web, social media, and cryptocurrency to run the trade.Police will coordinate with state and central agencies and other stakeholders to tackle the menace. They will analyse drug-related data and recommend policy changes to govt, while ensuring time-bound coordination with forensic science laboratories for early test results in cases under the NDPS Act.The task force will develop actionable intelligence to enforce the NDPS Act, 1985, and related laws, to keep a check on drug abuse.
