Panaji: Police Sunday arrested Goa Institute of Management (GIM) student Sukanya Sabbhani for allegedly stabbing 25-year-old student Umme Aiman on the business school’s campus at Poriem in Sattari.Police said 26-year-old Sukanya is a resident of Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, while Umme is a native of Lucknow. They also said the two students stayed in different rooms in the hostel.Umme in her complaint said Sukanya allegedly entered her room at Hostel No. 2 on GIM campus late Saturday night and stabbed her with a knife on her neck while she was sleeping, which led to severe bleeding. She said Sukanya had attacked her with an intention to kill.Police said Sukanya also inflicted “serious cut injuries” to Umme’s hands and threatened to kill her.Police said the GIM authorities shifted Umme to the community health centre at Sanquelim and later she was shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC).Valpoi police inspector Vidyesh Pilgaonkar said they are ascertaining the motive behind the attack and an attempt to murder case has been registered.Police said after the incident, Sukanya continued to stay in the hostel from where she was arrested.
