Times New NetworkPrayagraj: A 14-year-old girl is battling 40 per cent burns after her uncle allegedly set her ablaze for resisting molestation, police said on Sunday.The accused, Ramesh, 30, and his wife Nandini, 27, have been arrested.In her statement, the girl, who is admitted to the SRN Hospital, alleged that Ramesh tried to outrage her modesty and tortured her. She was set on fire on May 29 when she raised her voice against the abuse, police said.Following a complaint by the victim’s brother, Shivkuti police lodged an FIR against four persons and arrested the couple.Police said the girl had been living with her uncle since 2024 after her parents died. Her brother lives with his wife in Rajapur.
