Gorakhpur: A nine-year-old girl, who had been suffering from cough and cold, allegedly died after receiving an injection at a medical store in Gorakhpur’s Uruwa area on Sunday evening.Police have registered an FIR and launched a manhunt for the store operator, who fled after the incident.The girl, from Masuriya village, was taken to a medical store in Jauharabad by her mother around 4 pm with cough and fever symptoms. The store operator allegedly gave her an injection, after which she collapsed and died shortly.Her mother alleged that the store operator locked up the shop and fled after her daughter’s condition worsened.Bansgaon SHO Jitendra Kumar Singh said the postmortem report will determine the cause of death. The case has been registered based on the mother’s complaint, and police are working to track down the accused.Uruwa medical officer in charge J P Tiwari said medical stores are authorised to only sell medicines. Tiwari said they are not permitted to administer injections or provide treatment.He said a detailed report had been forwarded to chief medical officer and deputy CMO for further action.
