Bokaro: A couple drowned in a well in a village in Giridih district on Friday. Residents of Govindpura village informed Gandey police that Parvati Devi (30) slipped and fell into a well in the village while drawing water. Hearing her calls for help, Parvati’s husband Rajendra Murmu (35) immediately jumped in to rescue her. However, both drowned.Neighbours rushed to the spot after being alerted and gathered near the well. With the help of villagers, the bodies were later retrieved. The incident has left the village in mourning, with family members and locals expressing deep grief.Parvati and Rajendra left behind to two minor children, Rasika (6) and Anshu (4).Sub divisional police officer Jeetvahan Oraon said preliminary findings indicate death due to drowning, and further investigation is underway. “Police reached the spot, conducted inquest proceedings, and sent the bodies to the sadar hospital for post-mortem examination,” he said.
