Ghaziabad: A sessions court has refused bail to a six-month pregnant woman accused of helping her sister murder the latter’s live-in partner at a rented house in Tronica City. According to the prosecution, the case rests primarily on the statement of the elder sister’s teenage daughter, who told police she saw her mother and aunt assault the man with a wooden stick before strangling him with a towel.Sessions judge Vinod Singh Rawat said, “Considering the facts and circumstances, and the gravity of the offence, there are no sufficient grounds for the applicant to be released on bail. Accordingly, the bail application is liable to be dismissed.”An FIR was registered under BNS section 103(1) (murder) read with 3(5) (criminal conspiracy) based on a complaint filed by Sameer Khan alias Nasir at Tronica City police station on June 29 this year. Sameer told the cops that his brother, Zakir, had been living on rent in Pooja Colony near Saraswati School with a woman, Kiran, and her children. Around 11 am on June 23, the couple had a fight, after which Kiran, along with her sister Kashish, allegedly murdered Zakir. The sisters were arrested on the same day.Filing for bail, Kashish’s counsel said that she was innocent and had been falsely implicated. “Zakir’s family had been pressuring Kiran to convert to Islam, but when she refused, they alleged that Zakir had been murdered by the sisters,” Kashish’s counsel said. He added that the FIR was registered almost a week after the murder and there were no independent witnesses against his client.The prosecutor, Rajesh Chandra Sharma, opposed the bail application and said the applicant and co-accused Kiran had murdered Zakir in furtherance of their common intention. Without commenting on the merits of the case at this stage, the judge said that prima facie strong evidence is against both the accused and there were insufficient grounds to release the applicant on bail.
