Panaji: GFP president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has submitted the Goa Protection of Agricultural Lands Bill, 2026, for introduction in the upcoming assembly session.The bill has been forwarded to the law secretariat for vetting, with instructions to ensure it meets the requirements for introduction in the House.The proposed legislation seeks to address growing concerns over the rapid conversion of agricultural land and the erosion of Goa’s green cover.Sardesai said that Goan soil is not a commodity and farmers are not speculators.The bill is expected to be listed for introduction on March 13.Congress and RG have moved similar bills, which have been drafted by retired chief justice of the Allahabad high court Justice Ferdino Rebello.
