Thiruvananthapuram: Movie lovers of all ages will get an opportunity to watch German filmmaker Axel Ranisch’s acclaimed children’s film Reuber at Goethe-Zentrum in Jawahar Nagar on Wednesday.The film will be screened at 6.30pm at the German language and culture centre. Entry is free.Released in 2013, Reuber takes viewers on an imaginative journey into the woods, where a seemingly simple childhood mistake sets off an unexpected adventure. The film combines fairy-tale elements, humour and fantasy while exploring themes of courage, family and growing up.The film is also noted for its unconventional filmmaking process. Much of the story and several scenes were developed through improvisation, with the filmmakers working in the Brandenburg forest and allowing the narrative to evolve during filming.Rather than portraying childhood merely as a period of innocence, Reuber explores it as a world of imagination, fears, challenges and unexpected possibilities.The film premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2013 and later won the Children’s Film Award “Rakete” at the Kinofest Lünen. Its blend of fantasy, humour and spontaneous filmmaking has helped it gain recognition as an engaging cinematic experience for both children and adults.
