Nagpur: Work, studies and daily responsibilities in today’s fast-paced world leaves us with little room for expression. In such times, Mother’s Day is an occasion for many to stop, reflect and simply say “thank you” to their mothers through heartfelt gestures, gifts and quality time. Across Nagpur, many conscious citizens paused their busy routines to honour their mothers, women who quietly hold families together every day, with warmth, gratitude and emotional moments. For students and young residents, the day was less about grand celebrations and more about making mothers feel valued. Vishvesh Dange, a student, decided to surprise his mother with a cake. “I admire my mother a lot for everything she does for our family. I just wanted to see her smile and feel special for a day,” he said.Restaurants across areas such as Dharampeth and Bajaj Nagar witnessed heavy rush as families stepped out to celebrate together. Many sons and daughters chose to give their mothers a rare break from household responsibilities and cooking duties. Achyut Gharpure, who planned a family outing, said the idea was simple — to let his mother relax and enjoy herself. “Mothers spend their lives taking care of everyone else. We wanted this day to be about her,” he said. Some celebrations were deeply personal. Kumar Aditya gifted his mother a book, knowing her love for reading. “I wanted to give her something she genuinely enjoys,” he said, adding that meaningful gifts matter more than expensive ones. The celebrations extended to several residential societies organising community events. At Shivrani Heights in Gokul Housing Society, families gathered for games, snacks and interactive activities dedicated to mothers. Organiser Jeet Malik said around 39 families participated in the celebration, turning the clubhouse into a space filled with laughter, music and appreciation. For many mothers, the day was not about gifts or outings alone, but about being acknowledged for the countless sacrifices, silent struggles and unconditional love that often go unnoticed in everyday life.
