Noida: Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s (UPPTCL) transmission works committee has approved four new 132 kV and 220 kV substations at an estimated cost of over Rs 660 crore to meet the growing power demand in Noida. The substations will come up in YEIDA sectors 10 and 28, Ecotech 10 in Greater Noida and Sector 155 in Noida.In YEIDA areas, Sector 10 is set to get a 132/33 kV capacity substation, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore, while the 220 kV substation planned for Sector 28 will come up at a cost of around Rs 200 crore.Officials said these facilities will support the rapidly developing industrial area and help meet the increasing electricity demand, accommodating major players such as M/s Ascent K Circuit and M/s New Holland in Sector 10.The existing 132 kV substation in Sector Ecotech 10 in Greater Noida will be upgraded to 220 kV capacity with an estimated investment of Rs 203 crore. This substation is expected to enhance the transmission capacity and reliability for the expanding industrial load in the region.Another new substation will come up in Noida’s Sector 155 at an estimated cost of around Rs 200 crore. The substation will strengthen the transmission network and meet the demands of industrial, commercial and data-centre developments in both Noida and Greater Noida, officials said.According to officials, dedicated transmission connectivity has also been sanctioned for major solar manufacturing projects in the YEIDA area to support the growing renewable energy sector. The existing 765 kV Jahangirpur substation will facilitate substantial loads for two key projects in the area — M/s SAEL Solar P6 and M/s CESC Solar Frean.“These initiatives are part of a broader effort to transform the region into a leading hub for industrial, aviation, digital infrastructure, and renewable energy manufacturing. The commissioning of high-capacity substations and the construction of new facilities will ensure reliable and quality power infrastructure, essential for the future growth of GB Nagar and surrounding areas. It will not only address current energy demands but also prepare for the anticipated electricity needs from upcoming industries and clean energy initiatives in the region,” said Dileep Kumar Gupta, executive engineer, UPPTCL.UPPTCL also energised key substations in the district, including the 400/220 kV Metro Depot substation in 2025, the 220/132 kV Jewar extension substation in Jan this year, the 220/132 kV NIB substation in Noida’s Sector 62 in April, the 132/33 kV substation in Noida’s Sector 115 and the 400/220 kV Jalpura substation in Greater Noida.
